MMag. Romed Neurohr
Managing Director
At the beginning of 2025, the Capuchin Order entrusted me with the honourable task of managing the Capuchin Crypt. It is a privilege for me to lead the imperial burial site of the House of Habsburg, which is also a globally unrivalled memorial to 400 years of Austrian and European history, into the future.
In addition to the sarcophagi as a unique showcase of metalworking and witnesses to a history of mentality, the crypts themselves can also be read as a demonstration of imperial power and a way of coping with human mortality.
Accordingly, it is my concern to preserve and deepen this place in the heart of Vienna as a dignified resting place for the dead, as an encounter with outstanding testimonies to the art of burial and our history, and as a memento mori or existential memento fidei for us all.
Br. Albert Michelitsch OFMCap
Custodian
As custodian of the Capuchin crypt, Brother Albert Michelitsch OFMCap ensures that the mission of the founder, Empress Anna of Tyrol, is honoured. He is also an important link between the Capuchin Order and the crypt. As a profound expert, he gives guided tours of the crypt, the monastery and the church on selected occasions.
Michaela Schwarz
Operational Manager
Over the past 20 years, Mrs Schwarz has been involved in almost all of the company's key areas of activity in various roles and is now responsible for the operational running of the crypt. For her, the Capuchin Crypt is a unique testimony to imperial demonstrations of power, religious beliefs and very personal destinies.
